A combination of massage techniques is used, to treat each muscle individually. In general, sports massage uses a firmer pressure than some other massages, but it is important to communicate with the therapist if the pressure is too much or could do with being firmer.

HOW SHOULD I PREPARE FOR A MASSAGE/ WHAT IS EXPECTED?

The first session will include a discussion before proceeding with your massage. In this chat we go through the contact and medical form and discuss previous injuries and surgeries. We will talk about your current physical activities and anything that may be causing any issues (this may include occupational stress). In some cases, we may also test your ranges of motion. We will discuss with you on the day what you should expect with your treatment too.

A common question asked is “what should I wear?”. Wear whatever! It’s often easier to wear exercise shorts if your legs are being treated but is not essential. Towels and blankets are provided to cover your body which may be tucked into your clothing and ensure that you keep warm.

At the end of the session, you will be wiped down with a towel to remove excess oil. In cases where the neck is massaged, it will be likely that the hairline will become oily.
